News + Life Exchange

While Laurence Gartel's video 'fetish America' (which features a music piece I composed and performed for Laurence) is screened at Art Basel in Miami, I am finishing the scoring for the upcoming documentary by Lars Gerhard about NY legendary photographer Erika Stone.

Also next 13th december two never-seen-before drawings from the making of PHOTOSONIC will be exhibit at the Artists Space for the 'Night of the 1,000 drawings' collective exhibition.

Tomorrow I'll be interview by the New York Post magazine with Ektoras Binikos about the Life Exchange experience (below you can see one of Ektoras drawings and my 'Two Heads - Onservation vs. Analysis' diagram created after the Life Exchange experience).

A video festival about Brooklyn as a place and video as an artform

November 30 to December 2, 2007
Polytechnic Hall of Fame
Polytechnic University, Brooklyn

5 Metrotech Ctr
Brooklyn, NY 11201
(718) 237-9054

in cooperation with the Integrated Digital Media Institute

The vBrooklyn video-festival documents Brooklyn, NY's, evolving cityscape, culture and people with contemporary video-art. The festival presents innovative and entertaining video-artists through live video-performances, screenings and installations.

Brooklyn's urban development and population influx has hit critical-mass — vBrooklyn is asking video-artists to tape the borough before it permanently transforms, building a dynamic historic record through personal interpretation and literal documentation.

I was walking down Allen st. in Lower East Side while (oh my God!) I had noticed Minino Garay crossing the street! I had meet Minino during 2005 while I was living in Tokyo, he's now in tour with singer Dee Dee Bridgewater.

Past saturday I had got a chance to have a short talk with NY legend Ron English, while I was at the Popaganda event at Lincoln Center film society center.

The week of the 8th of november I'm gonna meet historical digital art pioneer Laurence Gartel, we may have something to work on together during the following months ...

I had also had the pleasure to perform with Armando Corsi and Michael Maccini at the Sori Jazz festival and with Napo Quintet in Portofino (see pictures below); a press conference covering the promotion and production of Armando Corsi's work 'Double Life' and the video 'Anima Latina', has happened at the Visa Vis Hotel in Sestri Levante, for the night in memory of the genius Bruno Lauzi.

PHOTOSONIC on TV ... and in Japan!

Hi everybody,

this has been a very intense day for me, I had worked as director of photography for a music video (surprise! you'll see it soon online and on this blog), plus meeting Ms. Nana Chilton from the Maharishi University in New York, working on the new tracks of the following of 'The Mistrel & The Princess' EP ('TM&TP' record will be soon released by Elec Trip Records featuring the amazing cover by Dianna Lupin) and working to the new tracks of an amazing rock project I'd been working on during the last month (more coming soon!).

Thanks to the MiCRO Museum in Brooklyn, an excerpt of 'Photosonic' will be featured nationally on TV and one of my performances will take place at the museum the 8th of September.

'Photosonic' (Child and Adult phases) will be also released during the summer on major music and video online stores (including iTunes, Rhapsody, etc.), for a unique experience on your iPod and portable video devices.

In addition to my participation at the 2007 exhibition of the Artist Colllective in Tokyo during August, the 8th of October I will perform for the second time at SeOne Club in London, for the 2007 edition of the Rubber Ball weekend (please visit the Skin Two Magazine website for more details). Hope to see you there kinkier than ever!

Interview on VoeVeo

You can see the interview at http://www.voeveo.com/forums/Producers/d'agostino/3898

here's also a transcription:

Where are you from in the US and why do you live there?
I live worldwide, now I'm based in New York, as to me NY represents a very interesting mix of cultures and creative people; I felt in love with NY since the first time I went there to perform for Move*ment Inc. during the summer of 1999, I had immediately embraced the productive atmosphere of Lower East Side and the cozy environment of Brooklyn.

Apart from loading up unique ringtones and sci-fi inspired video on voeveo, what else do you do?
Producing and performing are the core of my life and work, any kind of medium (video, music, photography, etc.) are the technical tools that allows to 'capture' the performances and the thoughts I produce (close to the relation between the writing process and a philosopher following the vision of G. Deleuze). I truly love to collaborate with artists that are from different cultural backgrounds then mine, as it represents for me a form of traveling (maybe the best way to learn and grow as human being).

What inspires your work?
Life is my best inspiration, I really do my best to embrace a message of peace and knowledge in my work, as spectator I personally love any kind of art that is educative, passionate and fun to experience, something that it has been lost in the last decade when everything seems to be forced to fit into a classical-system of rules, art included.

What's kind of mobile phone do you have and why do you like it?
NOKIA , but I'm gonna buy an iPhone as soon as it will be available, I like the touch pad and the possibility of having Google Earth and Yahoo on a mobile phone.

When you're not in the office what are you doing?
If I'm not in a music studio, in an art gallery setting up an exhibition, or on a movie set I simply hang out with friends or read books. It's difficult for me to say what is the difference between studio life and personal life, as when I'm in the studio I produce and encode the events that happen in my personal life.

What's at the top of your playlist right now?
It's a long playlist and changes every 2/3 days ... 'Double life' by Armando Corsi, and my EP 'the Mistrel & the Princess' soon released by Elec Trip Records.

Who are some of your favourite Producers on voeveo?
Anika Moa and Marcus T

Any great Internet site finds to share with our visitors?
