It's the cover of the CONVERSATIONS ep, released during 2003, Boston, MA (USA)

I had released this all-acoustic EP during my Berklee College year, it was printed in a very limited edition (300 copies?), and promoted in CT on the radio show 'The Upper Room with Joe Kelley'.

At the time I was sponsored by C.F. Martin guitars (still my fav acoustic brand), and one rainy day I had got this awesome email with the picture of CONVERSATIONS on the Martin Wall Of Fame in Nazareth, PA.

CONVERSATIONS was recorded at Civitas Studios (Boston) one day recording session, all tracks first take (except for the 'xenocrony' thing, one guitar was old tapes stuff). Recorded and mixed by Jack Speciale (what a man!), the pictures where taken actually by his girlfriend at the time, Roby Finocchiaro.

It was such a freaky period for me, I was managed by Angela Smart for Eagle Entertainment, my lawyer was [ops I don't remember the name] and I was also making some music under the name 'Vega78' for a film director named ... Ray Guhn (yes I did it).

Still waiting to know more about birds from Mr. Banacos ...

before my permanence at Berklee College, I had released another all-acoustic EP called 'Travels' (mainly recorded in Holmdel, NJ), here is a review of the album (sorry only in Italian):

GD Giulio D’Agostino - TRAVELS Mp3 (26’10)

Travels di "GD" Giulio D’Agostino ha lo stesso titolo di un famoso album di Pat Metheny, e lui è un chitarrista virtuoso, che però sembra rifarsi alla lezione di chitarristi come Steve Hackett e, più ancora, Anthony Phillips. il disco è composto da pezzi strumentali bilanciati fra chitarre acustiche ed elettriche. D'Agostino non è, forse, un innovatore come Reeves Gabrels, ma è un eccellente musicista e compositore che ci regala splendide armonie eteree. Giulio ha anche pubblicato due libri in America e ha lavorato con Andy Warhol, non occupandosi solo di musica, e vive la maggior parte del suo tempo in America, anche se è genovese. Stupisce l’assemblaggio di chitarre antiche e strumenti moderni come avviene in Holmdel, con un intreccio sognante: chitarre che sembrano mandolini e fanno respirare aria di montagne e fiumi americani. Un country-rock tinteggiato di aromi New Age. Tutto scorre in modo naturale senza nulla di artificioso: D'Agostino è un’ artista che mette a nudo la propria arte. Straordinaria è anche Into the wood con la chitarra che sembra un liuto intento a dipingere un quadretto molto impressionista. La tecnica è degna di un grande chitarrista. Stranger ha sapori orientali ma la chitarra è molto fusion. Certo ci piacerebbe ascoltare GD in dischi con pezzi più variegati, ma Travels, nel suo genere, è un lavoro onesto e senza pretese.
